World Blood Cancer Day 2024

On May 28, 2024, on the occasion of World Blood Cancer Day, two online events (webinars) took place – 11:00 and 15:00 – organized in partnership with the Federation of Cancer Patients’ Associations (FABC) and, respectively, with the Community of Patient Associations (CASPA). The two events were attended by two donors of the Registry, Fabian Foldi and Corneliu Dinca, respectively, and the patient Georgiana Ciorțan (Iași).

Hematologists, patients and authorities, presented blood cancers, showed how leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma are similar and different, what the symptoms are, how they are diagnosed and treated, what patients can do for quick access to diagnosis and treatment and how we can save a life by donating hematopoietic stem cells.

Details were given about the types of cancer and how important it is for patients to have quick access to life-saving transplantation. The audience was told about hematopoietic stem cells, the ways to register in the Registry, the donation and transplantation procedure, as well as the importance of registering in the Registry and finding a compatible donor in time.

Participants were explained that the steps to enroll in the Registry are very simple and small for a healthy person but extremely large for an onco-hematological patient. The more people enrolled in the Registry, the more chances for life for hematological patients!
