World Marrow Donor Day 2023

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, we celebrate the World Marrow Donor Day.

On this occasion, in Bucharest, on the evening of September 16, starting at 8:00 PM, for the whole night, the City Hall building of the Capital was illuminated in the colors blue-white-red, specific colors of the international Registry of which the National Registry of Voluntary Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donors is also a part. The light and color projection was accompanied by the logo of the National Registry of Hematopoietic Stem Cells and the messages “Thank You! Donor” and “Donate a chance at life!”.

At the same time, in Iași, the building of the “Gr. T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy was illuminated. In several cities in the country, where donor registration centers are organized, promotion and registration events in the Registry took place.

The purpose of celebrating the World Marrow Donor Day is to thank donors who donated for an unrelated patient as well as those registered in Registries around the world and who are the hope for a cure for patients who can have a new chance at life through hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

In order to offer a chance at life to all patients, the Romanian Registry must grow with people from all geographic areas and all ethnicities.

We encourage you to join the Registry and share this with your friends, through photos and messages posted on social media channels. Thus, the more people who are registered as potential donors, the more our common cause of saving the lives of patients who need a new chance at life will be a real one!
